CIRCB ends free screening of HIV and Hepatitis B and C today
Series of activities have been organized this month,
November, 2018 at the Chantal Biya International Reference Centre for control
and management of HIV/AAIDS with French acronym, CIRCB. This is in a bit to
meet up with 3rd Cameroonian month against and the 31st
world AIDS Day.
The event this year is commemorated under the theme, “KNOW
YOUR HIV STATUS” and when this is done, the young girl is protected. Activities included some strategy sessions
that held last Wednesday through Thursday aimed at tackling cases where the
pandemic is resistant to the antiretroviral drug, sensitization campaigns in
some schools, educational talks, voluntary, anonymous and free HIV, Hepatitis
B and C screening from 28th to 30th November 2018, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm at CIRCB
Note should be taken HIV and Hepatitis have almost same mode of
transmissions which is through contact with contaminated blood of an already
infected person. The Centre now does free screening these days instead of the
normal cost of 500F and 7000F cost for HIV and hepatitis respectively during
normal voluntary screenings
Dr. Aubin Nanfack is head of Immunology and Microbiology
Laboratory at CIRCB now puts the event in context
